Wednesday - May 4

Today our bus driver chauffeured us south on a 2 hour trip to Taichung. We visited Giant Bicycles, Inc., Asia University, and the Taichung Night Market. Our accommodations for the night were the Taichung Jin Pin Hotel. As we traveled south, the terrain changed and the area looked more industrialized. The roadside was lined with factories and a modern highway system. Compared to the U.S. infrastructure, the highways rival those found in the U.S. The availability of WiFi and Internet access however is much better in the U.S. we had access last night where we stayed, and a little extra time after we finished for the day with planned activities. I will try to catch up on my postings for my great adventure in Tauwan.

I was impressed by the fact that Giant Bicycles began in 1971 with an initial investment of $100,000. From that seed money, the company has grown under the direction and guidance of King Liu and his business partners. Using business management models, the company has become the worlds largest bicycle manufacturer using sophisticated marketing techniques and an integrated network.
